<trans-abstract xml:lang="en"><p>THE AIM of the work was to study the state of the intact rats’ kidneys in response to acute osmotic loading in relation to age. MATERIALS AND METHODS. An analysis of the state of the osmoregulating function of kidneys was performed under conditions of the water and acute osmotic (3% solution of sodium chloride) loading in intact rats of three age groups: animals in the stage of pubescence, young pubescent and old age group animals. RESULTS. It was found that 3% sodium chloride in the volume of 5% of body mass given to rats in the stage of pubescence, to young pubescent and animals of the old age group, as compared to water loading in the volume of 5% of body mass resulted in the increased rate of glomerular filtration. The highest initial values of creatinine clearance and the indices of the induced growth of this parameter were registered in the group of young pubescent animals, and the minimal ones in the group of animals in the stage of pubescence. COMCLUSION. The difference in the dynamics of the glomerular filtration rate and renal excretion of the substances under study points to the presence of adaptive reactions of the renal activity regulation systems which adequately demonstrate age-related features of balance of metabolic processes and functional abilities of the renal homeostatic mechanisms.</p></trans-abstract><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>белые крысы</kwd><kwd>возраст</kwd><kwd>почки</kwd><kwd>водная и осмотическая нагрузки</kwd><kwd>клиренс креатинина</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>white rats</kwd><kwd>age</kwd><kwd>kidneys</kwd><kwd>water and osmotic loading</kwd><kwd>creatinine clearance</kwd></kwd-group></article-meta></front><back><ref-list><title>References</title><ref id="cit1"><label>1</label><citation-alternatives><mixed-citation xml:lang="ru">Kiviranta Т, Tuomisto L, Jolkkonen J Airaksinen EM Vasopressin in the cerebrospinal fluid of febrile children with or withoutseizures Brain Dev 1996, 18(2)110-113</mixed-citation><mixed-citation xml:lang="en">Kiviranta Т, Tuomisto L, Jolkkonen J Airaksinen EM Vasopressin in the cerebrospinal fluid of febrile children with or withoutseizures Brain Dev 1996, 18(2)110-113</mixed-citation></citation-alternatives></ref><ref id="cit2"><label>2</label><citation-alternatives><mixed-citation xml:lang="ru">Cooke CR, Wall BM, Jones GV et al.
